Homework

Please find below details of your child’s homework. We thank you in anticipation of your support, which we firmly believe will make a huge difference to the progress of your child this year.

Homework is given to children on a Friday afternoon and is expected to be handed in on Wednesday of the following week.

Your child must complete the following:

Reading: Children are encouraged to spend a little time reading each evening and record progress in their reading records which should be brought into school on a daily basis. A love of books and the regular opportunity to spend quiet moments in sustained reading will improve your child’s Literacy skills and in particular their quality of writing. Every child is encouraged to read for 15 minutes every night.

Spellings: Each week your child will receive spellings which they can take home to learn. A spelling test will be given the following Wednesday.

Independent Study: Each term your child will be given a grid based on the classroom topic for the term. Your child can choose to complete any of the given tasks to earn the total necessary for their year group. The children can use any available resource, including items from educational visits, library books and the internet, but they must not just print out web pages. This study is on-going, lasting all term – studies must be handed in by the end of term when prizes will be awarded for the most outstanding studies.

Your child’s homework may also consist of:
